Ortus is a specialist advisory company delivering advice and practical solutions to the professional services sector.   

Ortus was founded in 2004 by Colin White and specialised exclusively in the legal sector until 2008 when Ortus merged with Boston Bailey to grow into the accountancy practice arena.  Justin Hodgin led Boston Bailey into this merger and he is now a co-director of Ortus where jointly with Colin, they lead a business advisory and brokering service that helps private practitioners merge, sell and buy practices as well as assisting with growth through acquisition of partners and clients through professional executive search.  

Colin has specialised in the legal sector since 1997 where he trained and remained with the world's largest executive search organisation for 7 years. Projects he has overseen and completed have covered many different disciplines all over the UK and various other countries in three different continents.  Example projects include merging two firms to create a top 100-law firm, acquisition of a corporate finance boutique, a private client firm and assembling teams as diverse as Private Client, Aviation Finance and Employment. He was also consulted post Legal Services Bill regarding the inception of a new type of legal business that launched in 2009. 

Justin originally trained with KPMG before going on to gain significant experience in the UK and Australia in practice and then in industry as an Operations Director.  With knowledge of the accountancy and practice markets, with particular expertise in advising clients on restructuring, recruitment, and mergers and acquisitions, Justin is not only a hands-on consultant for our clients but also key to the strategic growth of Ortus.  He has completed many projects including multiple acquisitions for the same client, several disposals for sole practitioners and the launch of a new office for a national accountancy practice.
